Firm Overview

Since it’s founding, the Crow Law’s history has mirrored that of the Sacramento area and the railroad.

When the railroad business started to take off in the 1950’s, Richard E. Crow and two partners opened a law office to help injured railroad employees. At the time, Roseville was a major hub of the Southern Pacific Railroad for the Sacramento-San Joaquin area.

Crow had been an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation during World War II. When the war ended, he went to law school, graduating from the University of San Francisco School of Law. As an FBI investigator, Crow quickly saw beneath the surface of injury cases to the deeper issues. He learned the ins-and-outs of personal injury and railroad law while working in Oakland and Los Angeles.

By 1954, he was ready to open his own firm, moving to Sacramento to do so. Crow’s commitment to justice helped the firm expand until it represented injured railroad employees—and other injured people—across the Western states.

Over time, railroad employees, personal injury clients and staff became close personal friends and part of the Crow Law family. Even today, some of the staff have been with the firm for more than 20—or even 30—years.

Because the personal injury firm became so well-known for its work, many of the founders of the firm were appointed judges, a tradition that continues to this day.
